These images are of the first paintings I made when I moved to Florida in 2010. In searching for ways to process this strange, new landscape, I isolated little moments that reflect the architecture, wildlife, heat and brilliant palette. I think of these as realistic paintings seen through a lens of reduction, nodding to the clean lines of Art Deco and utilizing metallic paint to reflect Miami's love of glitz.
